God knows

I don't need to buy a new printer for the time being! I have said in the last post "The printer dies when I need it most", but Lingyee then said maybe you don't have to print application letter anymore. Now, it proves that Lingyee is correct and therefore I should take the statement back and should say "God permits the printer to die when I need it least." Praise the Lord!

My inkjet printer is certified

A few days ago, the printer suddenly turned off by itself and could not be powered up again. I asked a staff at a printer repair shop, who it was due to the failure of the power supply, which can be easily replaced. Today I brought it to the repair shop, another staff checked it and said the power supply was OK, but it was the problem of the motherboard. He could not fix the machine, which must be sent to the manufacturer for repair. The repair cost at the manufacturer could be as high as buying a new one, I got no choice, but threw it away.

Aiya, it died when I need it most. How can I print my job application letters???

Sympathy that doesn't help

A baby is learning how to walk. When the boy fall down, his father leaves him alone and stops me from helping the boy to sit up again. All the father does is encouraging his son to sit up on his own feet. His father has the son's best interests in mind and thinks that the quickest way to teach his son to walk is leaving him alone to overcome his failures. If the baby once realizes that sitting there and crying can bring someone to help anyway, he will not be willing to stand up by himself. In such a situation, sympathy does not help the boy's learning.

The story echos one of the article by Oswald Chambers. He reminds us not to pray for others with our own sympathy but without identifying God's interest and concern for them. While God is gradually lifting up others to a totally different level, we should not step into having emotional sympathy with them. If we do, this is a deliberate rebuke to God.

Back to UST

Today UST lunchmates celebrate Barbara has passed her PhD defense. We go to Susanna of Sai Kung for lunch. I have not seen them for almost one month. During the lunch, I am able to have some updates on them.
  • Barbara's new collegue in Poly U
  • Fai's local optimum
  • Ivan's new born baby has back home for two days.
  • Mark will have a conference trip to ShangHai
When I collect my alumni sport faciliaty user card, I meet the attendants whom I know for about 10 years. Thanks for their warm geetings.

Uncertainty

Today

Today is my last day working in UST. It will be a busy day, finishing all the remaining tasks for my supervisor, preaching before lunch, having a farewell lunch gathering, return things that I have borrowed and a dinner to celebrate relatives' birthday.

I don't know what tomorrow will be, but I am sure My Lord is by my side to help. What a timely reminder of today's ODB:

Jesus whispers “I am with you”
In the hour of deepest need;
When the way is dark and lonesome,
“I am with you, I will lead.” —Morris

What's left?

Any burden that you are now bearing? Family? Career? Church service? Do you sometimes feel exhausted and defeated?

Here is a good reminder for you:

If your Lord Jesus is willing to bear your burdens of sins and wrongdoings, how will He not also bear your burdens and troubles in life?

If your Lord Jesus is willing to give you His life, how will He not also gives His peace, strength and love for endure these troubles?

Cast your burden on the LORD,
And He shall sustain you;
He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22

Love yourself last

"Love thyself (yourself) last. Look near, behold thy (your) duty
To those who walk beside thee (you) down life’s road.
Make glad their days by little acts of beauty
And help them bear the burden of earth’s load. —Wilcox"

Past

An inspiring point from Oswald Chambers:
"Never be afraid when God brings back your past. Let your memory have its way with you. It is a minister of God bringing its rebuke and sorrow to you. God with turn what might have been into a wonderful lesson of growth for the future."

Good things

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9

Points to remember:
  1. Instead of thinking about negative thoughts of life, Paul here suggested us to keep our mind mediating on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report, virtue and praiseworthy. As time goes by, we will learn these good things, which are from the Father of lights according to James 1:17.
  2. Learning, receiving, hearing and seeing things from Paul are by means enough, we have to DO these things.
  3. The God of peace will be with you, whenever we practise these good things.

Sow and reap

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Galatians 6:9-10

Let's sow the gospel to the spirit of others, and in due season, we shall reap the salvation of them.

Some passages in my mind

Several thoughts are in my mind. To remind myself, here are the keywords.
  1. 不被人記的侍奉
  2. War - a real test of your being
  3. What is really significant for me?
